Miracles in Healing

Throughout the New Testament, we see Jesus healing numerous people from various sicknesses. All who cried out to Jesus for healing never returned without getting healed. One such incident is recorded in the book of Luke 6: 17-19.

¹⁷ He went down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there and a great number of people from all over Judea, from Jerusalem, and from the coastal region around Tyre and Sidon, ¹⁸ who had come to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. Those troubled by impure spirits were cured, ¹⁹ and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all.

We see in this instance that everyone ran to Jesus to hear His word and to be healed from their illness. All they wanted was to touch Jesus. Luke clearly mentions that the divine POWER coming from Jesus Christ had healed them all.

Now that Jesus is crucified, buried, risen, and lifted up to heaven does He still heal the sick and cure the diseased?

Yes, He still does. After Jesus was lifted up to heaven, He equipped every child of Him to be like Him. In the book of Acts 3: 1-10 we witness how Peter heals a lame man who had been begging at the temple gate.

⁴ Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” ⁵ So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.⁶ Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

But wait, Had not the disciples once failed to drive out demons and Jesus had warned them for their unbelief? (Refer Luke 9: 37-41) What had changed now? How is it that even the disciples were able to bring this miraculous healing?

If we continue reading Acts 3 we will see Peter giving us the reason in verse 16

¹⁶ By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.

Peter states two powerful reasons, he says it is ‘JESUS’ NAME’ and ‘FAITH’ that completely healed the lame man.

It is the same power of Jesus that had healed both the crowd and the lame man.

They are the same disciples who had once failed to drive out demons now healed this lame man.

What remained constant is the Power that is in the name of Jesus Christ. What changed is the faith that the disciples developed.

It is when our faith meets the power of Jesus Christ we will witness miracles unleash in our prayers.

How do we let God know we are praying in faith? We can simply do it by not worrying about that situation anymore because we have firmly believed that God who is listening to us will answer at His right time.

Take heed, it is only through faith we can please God.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God

Thank you Jesus for the life of this reader. Lord, I pray that you will bring healing to their bodies and deliver them from all kinds of sickness. I pray Lord that their prayers for the healing of their loved ones will be answered by your grace with their faith being lifted high.
